Turing seeks the top 1% of software engineers for full-time work with U.S. companies. Fluency in English and independent work skills are necessary.
Skill-Based Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must possess skills and abilities that are comparable to or exceed those of the top 1% of software engineers globally.
- Applicants must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) with U.S.-based companies. Although Turing may permit part-time work during transitional phases, developers are expected to transition to full-time employment as soon as feasible.
- Turing prioritizes skills and talent over formal academic qualifications, offering exceptionally skilled candidates the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities.
- Candidates should be prepared to devote approximately 5 hours to programming assessments, skill challenges, and video interviews. These evaluations are designed by Turing's leadership team, which includes former engineering managers from Facebook and Google, as well as a Stanford AI scientist, to identify the top 1% of engineers worldwide.
- Applicants must ensure that their working hours coincide with at least 4 hours each day with companies based in Silicon Valley or New York.
- Proficiency in the English language at a C1 level is required, along with the ability to communicate effectively through daily video calls with engineering managers at U.S. software companies.
- Successful candidates should be capable of functioning autonomously and providing value to U.S. engineering management with minimal oversight. The ideal developer will not require their managers to create task outlines or JIRA tickets.
- Candidates should be adept at discussing managerial objectives and be able to propose a structured roadmap, including specific tasks for managerial approval.
- Strong communication skills are essential, as candidates must recognize the challenges inherent in remote work and the necessity of over-communication to mitigate these challenges.
- Proficiency in feature planning and estimation is required. Candidates should be able to articulate business priorities to U.S. companies and recommend practical software and business trade-offs and solutions.
