How to Check Your Job Application Status and Understand Next Steps
Last updated: November 2, 2026
Viewing Your Application Status
To check the status of a submitted job application, visit your Applications Dashboard. From there, you can:
View each job card and its current status on the Applications page.
Go to the Submissions tab and click on a specific application for more detailed information.
Understanding Application Statuses
Your application card may display one of the following statuses:
Status | What It Means |
Pending Review | Your application has been received and is awaiting review. |
AI contractor — Await next steps | Your application is submitted and currently in review. No action is required from you at this time. |
Shortlisted | You have passed the initial application phase and your profile has been selected for further consideration. This does not mean you have received a job offer. |
In Review | Your application is actively being evaluated. |
Closed / Archived | Your candidacy was not selected, or the role has been filled or paused. Archived applications appear in the Archived Applications section under the Jobs page. |
If a role shows a "Hiring for this position is currently paused" notification, the position has been put on hold at the client's request. You can still browse and apply to other available roles on the Turing Jobs Portal.
Completing Your Application Requirements
To ensure your application is fully submitted:
Check your Applications Dashboard to see which assessments are marked as required for your role.
Complete any assessments showing as incomplete or paused (click Continue on any paused tests).
Only start additional assessments if they appear as required for your specific application.
After completing all required items, check the Submissions tab — if no pending steps are shown, your application is in review.
Note that depending on the position, there may be no tests required as part of the application process.
How Long Does a Review Take?
Application reviews can take anywhere from 48 hours to 6 weeks after completing all required steps, depending on client feedback and the volume of applications received. If you have not heard back within 6 weeks of completing your application, this typically indicates that you were not selected for the position.
If your dashboard status remains unchanged for 10 business days after completing your assessment, you should follow up by contacting support.
Due to the high volume of applications, not all candidates will receive a notification if they are not selected for the next steps.
How You Will Be Notified of Next Steps
If next steps are required (such as an assessment or interview), they will appear directly on your application card. You will also be notified via email or WhatsApp. The review team will reach out directly to candidates selected to proceed — this outreach may not happen immediately after assessment completion.
Responding to a Consideration Email
If you receive a consideration email for a role, you must reply within the timeframe specified in the email (typically 12 hours), confirming the following:
The proposed hourly rate
Your availability, including start date and duration
Your commitment in terms of hours per week and timezone overlap requirements
Your work eligibility, including your state of residence if you are U.S.-based
Confirming these details expresses your interest but does not guarantee an offer. If the email includes a tentative start date, this does not confirm final selection or onboarding — the selection process is still ongoing at that stage. If you do not receive a follow-up offer, it means the team decided not to continue with your onboarding for that role.
Important Notes
Applications must be submitted through the Turing portal to be processed. Applications sent by email are not processed. If you have not yet applied through the portal, please do so at work.turing.com/jobs.
If you are in an active engagement and cannot apply to other opportunities directly through the platform, discuss your interest in the new role with your direct manager or project manager and share the job link with them.
Individualized feedback explaining why an application was not selected is not provided.
You cannot opt out of a submitted application. If you do not wish to proceed with an opportunity, you may reject any offer when it is extended.
Third-party agency contacts about a similar role are separate channels. Your Turing dashboard only reflects the status of applications submitted directly through the Turing portal.
Not Selected? New Opportunities Are Available
Not being selected for a current opportunity does not mean you are out of consideration entirely. New openings are regularly posted at work.turing.com/jobs, and you will be notified via email or WhatsApp when new recommendations or interview opportunities become available.
Contacting Support for an Update
If your dashboard status has not changed for 10 business days after completing your assessment, contact support. To help expedite your inquiry, please have the following ready:
A screenshot of your dashboard
The email address tied to your application
The application type (e.g., role or program name)
Your full name
Any reference or application ID, if available
The date you submitted your application
Please avoid opening multiple support tickets for the same application inquiry, as this may delay resolution. To reopen an existing ticket, reply to the same email thread or access it via Past conversations using the chat icon at work.turing.com.
