How do I set up 2-Step Verification on my Turing email?

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Enabling 2-Step Verification is mandatory upon your first login to avoid account lockouts. Please refer to the 'Welcome to Turing email' sent to your personal email address. Follow these instructions to activate 2-Step Verification.

Please note that Google Authenticator is the only approved option for 2FA. Make sure to review the setup process carefully to ensure a smooth activation.

Enrollment Steps

To enroll for 2-Step Verification using Google Authenticator:

  1. Open https://myaccount.google.com/

  2. Select Security

  3. Select Turn on 2-Step Verification

  4. Enroll for 2FA using Google Authenticator and your mobile number

  5. When prompted for 2-Step Verification, open Google Authenticator and enter the 6-digit code it displays for your Turing account

Troubleshooting Setup Issues

If you encounter 'invalid code' errors when setting up Google Authenticator, try these steps in order:

  1. Ensure your phone's date and time are set to sync automatically, then wait for a fresh 30-second code and try again

  2. Retry the setup in an incognito or private browser window

  3. Clear your browser cookies and cache, then attempt setup again
