How to Reset Your 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) on Turing Platform.

Last updated: June 9, 2026

If you are locked out of your Turing account because you no longer have access to your authenticator app or backup codes, you can request a 2FA reset by following the steps below.

Before You Request a Reset

If you still have access to your backup/recovery codes, you can reset 2FA yourself without administrator intervention. This is the only self‑service option available — without backup codes, you must submit a reset request for manual verification.

Note: Turing does not support sending 2FA verification codes via email. Your only recovery options are backup codes or submitting a reset request through the form or email below.

  1. Log in to work.turing.com.

  2. Go to your profile Settings (top-right, under your name), then click Security in the left sidebar.

  3. Scroll to the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) section.

  4. When prompted for a 2FA code, choose the backup/recovery code option.

  5. Enter one unused code from your recovery file.

  6. In the Two‑Factor Authentication section, select the option to disable 2FA (if enabled), then re‑enable it to set up your authenticator app.

  7. Generate and securely save new recovery codes.

Tips when using backup codes:

  • Try each unused code in the file one at a time.

  • Make sure there are no extra spaces or formatting changes when entering or pasting the code.

Note: In some cases, clicking “Enabled” under the Two‑Factor Authentication section may not open the settings interface. If this occurs, proceed directly to submitting the manual 2FA reset request form.

You can request a 2FA reset using either of these methods:

Option 1: Submit a Form

The form requires:

  1. Reason for 2FA Reset Request — select from: Lost/Changed phone, Authenticator app corrupted/reset, Backup codes unavailable/lost, Incorrect six‑digit code/sync issues, or Other.

  2. Contact Email — a working email address where the support team can reach you.

  3. Identification — upload a clear photo of a government‑issued ID (passport, driver’s license, or national ID). Accepted file types: PDF, JPG, PNG; max size 5 MB.

If your 2FA issue is related to Slack, your Google/Turing email account, or other IT systems (rather than the work.turing.com platform itself), please contact the IT support team directly:

Note: IT support is the point of contact for any 2FA or login‑related issues, including those on the Turing platform.

When emailing IT support, include a screenshot of the specific error message to help them resolve your issue more efficiently.

After Your 2FA Is Reset

Once the support team confirms your 2FA has been reset:

  1. Log in to work.turing.com using your personal email.

  2. Set up 2FA again using your preferred authenticator app.

  3. Save your new backup/recovery codes in a secure location.

If you were locked out due to a 2FA issue while attempting a withdrawal, navigate to the Workspace tab, then the Payments section, and retry the withdrawal after re-enabling 2FA.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a backup/recovery code look like?
Backup codes are single-use alphanumeric codes. When you first set up 2FA on Turing, a recovery codes file is generated (for example, youremail@example.com-recovery-codes-[timestamp].txt). Keep this file stored safely.

My authenticator code shows as "Invalid TOTP" even though I have the app.
This can happen if your device's time is out of sync or if you’re using the wrong code. Try the following before requesting a reset:

If the issue persists after these steps, submit the reset form linked above.

The 2FA settings page is unresponsive or nothing happens when I click on it.

If clicking on Security → Two‑Factor Authentication does nothing or the page appears static, try these steps:

  1. Refresh the page, then try again.

  2. Open an incognito/private window and try again.

  3. Clear browser cache/cookies, then retry.

  4. Try a different browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) or device.

If you still cannot access the 2FA section:

  • Use a backup/recovery code to log in, then go to Settings → Two‑Factor Authentication to reconfigure.

  • If you don’t have backup codes, submit a 2FA reset request using the form or email.
